- Pre –requisites: Certificate III in Education Support, Children's Services or related area or sufficient, validated experience as an Education Support worker in an Australian school. Suitable English, numeracy and computer skill will be required.
This qualification covers workers in a range of settings including public and independent schools ranging from prep, primary to high school. Education Support Workers provide support and assistance to teachers and students under the broader supervision of a teacher, learning support co-ordinator or experienced teacher aide. Some job roles may require tasks to be performed with a moderate level of autonomy and/or the provision of supervision/leadership to other staff and volunteers. This course is the second course in the suite of Education Support courses and covers a wide range skills and knowledge required to work with students in a variety of school environments with a particular emphasis on special needs skill development.

VOCATIONAL PLACEMENT
All students who are not currently employed in a school will be required to undertake vocational placement in a school. This is an important part of your course as it allows you to implement your new skills and knowledge in the workplace. Vocational placement provides students with valuable work experience essential for those wishing to enter the education industry.
RECOGNITION
This option recognises a student’s prior experience and learning. Students work through RPL booklets which allow them to demonstrate their knowledge and skills without additional learning. Students are assessed on these skills and knowledge throughout the Recognition process.
CREDIT
Students who have previously achieved competency in a unit assessed as equivalent to a unit of study required by this course may apply for credit transfer.
